Xperia S Front

Xperia S – Detailed Review

Screen and Display:  The screen is quite impressive. Xperia S has a 4.3 inch scratch resistant TFT screen. The display is having a very high-resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. Images and text were crisp and sharp, thanks to its high-resolution. In  short Xperia S is having an impressive HD display. The display is enhanced by the Mobile BRAVIA® Engine from SONY. The phone was smooth to use and there were no lags. The interface performed very well and it responded really nice to quick scrolls and fast movements.

Even though, it doesn’t have an ambient light sensor, it performed well even under bright sun light. You could easily read even under bright sun light.

Physical Aspects : On the front part, Xperia S has a 1. 3 MP camera that can be used for video chatting. The front facing camera is capable of shooting videos in 720p. The front portion also has a LED notification light, proximity sensor and ear piece. On the back side, it has a  powerful 12 MP camera, an LED Flash , speaker grills and an active noise cancellation sensor. At the top, it has the power button and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Xperia S has a HDMI slot at its side that can be used to connect the camera to your TV. This phone has an elegant, slightly curved design at the back side. This design gives the phone an impressive look and is easy to grip.

Xperia S Back

Processor:  It is loaded with a very powerful 1.5 GHZ, Dual Core, Qualcomm processor. This dual core processor performed very well and made the multi tasking and gaming a memorable experience. The powerful dual core processor made the phone really fast to use and it never hanged even once.

Browsing:  It performed extremely well during browsing with fast scrolls, quick pinch to zoom gestures and quick switch between websites. Due to the high-resolution , the texts were crisp and very clear even at high zooms. Browsing on this phone is a remarkable experience. It has also got extremely good WiFi Reception capabilities, in fact better than many phones out there.

Storage : Xperia S, comes with an internal 32 GB storage . But it doesn’t have a micro sd slot , so you cannot expand the memory further. Since it has 32 GB storage, in my opinion, it really doesn’t need an expandable storage.

Camera : It has one of the best cameras available in the market. It has a powerful 12 MP camera at the rear and a 1.3 MP front facing camera. The camera performance of this phone is superb. The photos were very sharp, bright and colorful. It looked really impressive through the phone display and was very good even viewed in a computer. This phone is capable of taking 3D panoramic shots and the shots looked really good. To view the shots in 3D, you need a compatible 3D TV. Camera is also capable of 16X digital zoom , HD Video Recording (1080p), Face Recognition and smile detection.

Sound : Impressive sound quality and the speakers were loud. Audio playback, supported formats: MP3, 3GPP, MP4, SMF, WAV, OTA, Ogg vorbis. It is capable of 3D surround sound, clear stereo and clear bass.

Xperia S is available in two colors- white and black and it is priced at Rs 30,999 in India (source: flipkart)

We bought an Xperia S last June 4 and brought it back on june7 because it types letter on his own even though you stopped using the keypads and the back cover gets hot easily even if we don’t use it often. They give us a replacement but what sucks is that this breathing light is so annoying I can compare it to a Christmas light that seems blinking now and then, I think the blinking is not normal anymore, Xperia S is a failure your money will be wasted….

The notification led light can be little uncomfortable in dark rooms. You can disable the notification led.
