Quickly find mails with large attachments in Gmail
Gmail gives a huge amount of storage space to its users for free and because of that much unlimited storage, many don’t bother to properly clean up their in box to keep it lean. This will become an issue sometime or later. It is always better to clean up your account of large unwanted mails with big attachments. Some of those attachments you may never want to open for various reasons like being a spam, promotional or a just nonsense.
There are also many genuine mails with large attachments and you may want to find them and move to a named folder for easy access later. Whatever be the reason you need a quick way to find mails with big attachments.
Fortunately there is an easy way to find all those big attachments. Gmail provides a size operator in its search bar which will filter all mails with attachment greater than the given value. For instance, size: 2M will list all emails with attachments greater than 2M.
Syntax
In my tests, units supported by the size operator of Gmail are K ( Kilo bytes), M ( Megabytes) and bytes (no unit means). Please note that it is only taking the capital lettersM ( Mega ) and K ( Kilo).
