Former Indian President Kalam is on Facebook with “billion beats” page
Former Indian President Dr APJ AbdulKalam has joined the social networking wagon with his new Facebook page titled “Billion Beats“. Kalam’s Facebook page is an extension of his e-paper initiative called “billion beats” which he started immediately after he left office of President of India in July 2007. His mission statement states “Developed India 2020″.
“Dr Kalam will share the unique moments, his interaction with the unique people and achievers, share the success stories and celebrate the success of fellow Indians who contribute for the development of the nation, he will encourage the youth who have unique innovative ideas, discuss about his visits to various R&D organizations and institutions towards realizing the developed India before 2020, write on specific subjects on the development agenda, and continue to inspire the youth to achieve greater heights. Dr Kalam will share his thoughts and actions particularly focused on making this nation a developed nation before the year 2020.” – says V PONRAJ, editor and advisor of billion beats.
The popular e-paper billion beats, was earlier available from http://www.abdulkalam.com in PDF format. It seems Kalam is going the social way to connect with more people especially the youth of India. His Facebook page reads – “ e-paper “Billion beasts” of www.abdulkalam.com from now onwards will be available in Facebook format only”. Dr Kalam and his team has realized the popularity that Facebook and similar social media has among the Youth and this is definitely a smart move that will improve the reach and connect of the e-paper.
His first post is about his visit to Puduchery to participate in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Volontariat. This mission of Volontariat was started by Madam Madeleine de Blic who came from Belgium to India to pursue her mission of service to humanity in 1962.
